If you are looking to honeymoon in the UK then the New Forest offers a year-round destination for those seeking a romantic getaway together.
Romantic places to stay ideal for your honeymoon
If it’s pure indulgence that you are after on your honeymoon then why not check-in to one of our luxury hotels in the New Forest?
Enjoy award-winning dining and fine views from The Montagu Arms in Beaulieu where you will be staying in the heart of the New Forest countryside. Expect to find the New Forest ponies, donkeys and other animals roaming nearby and take the romantic walk along the Beaulieu River towards Buckler’s Hard.
Take in the laid-back luxury of five star Lime Wood or its sister hotel, The Pig, both offer amazing experiences for foodies. Lime Wood also has its own spa, The Herb House, where you can indulge in some well-deserved pampering.
At the five star Chewton Glen Hotel & Spa you can not only enjoy the sumptuous surroundings of the restaurant and spa but you can enjoy the views from one of the hotel suites or even the luxury and quirky surroundings of one of the treehouse suites. There’s an on-site cookery school where you can learn from culinary greats including celebrity chef, James Martin.
You will find many of our hotels come with extensive grounds, from floral gardens through to beautiful woodlands, perfect for a romantic stroll together. There are many rooms with a view and look for features such as roll-topped baths, indoor and outdoor swimming pools, leisure facilities and activities.
If you are looking for something more intimate then why not rent one of our romantic holiday cottages in the New Forest? Look out for cottages nestled in our countryside, with views across the open forest, or with cosy log burners.
Honeymoon ideas – create lasting memories together
Create precious memories together here in The New Forest. There is an extensive off-road path network, ideal for walking and cycling and being immersed in our beautiful landscape. You can even hire a tandem bike from one of our cycle hire companies if you want the ultimate romantic cycle ride!
Indulge in a couple’s experience at one of our spa hotels with a variety of treatments from massage to therapeutic mud wraps. Many of our spa hotels offer day spa passes so you can take your pick on where to visit.
Take a sunset cruise on a yacht, and soak up the fantastic views of our coastline as you sail around the Solent with Escape Yachting. Or, if you fancy getting involved then beginner’s sailing lessons are also on offer.
If you like to be outdoors then perhaps you’ll enjoy taking a hack through the Forest with one of our pony trekking centres.
Or why not book a kayaking session with one of our watersports providers? You can even paddle to the pub along the Beaulieu River with Beaulieu-based New Forest Activities, a great way to soak up the views of this peaceful part of the New Forest and look for wildlife including kingfishers. Try your hand at paddle boarding at Milford on Sea with The New Forest Paddle Sport Company and make your way along the coastline to Hurst Castle.
For more sedate, yet equally memorable days out, why not visit some of our gardens? Exbury Gardens is awash with colour, particularly in spring with the blooming of the beautiful azaleas and rhododendrons. The miniature steam train is a fun addition to the gardens as well and is a great way of taking in the sights.
The extensive gardens that surround Beaulieu’s Palace House offer scenic walks including the Mill Pond walk which follows along some of the Beaulieu River as it meanders its way through the grounds. Ever-romantics should also keep a look out for the love lock tree! Opened to the public on Valentine’s Day in 2017, this sculpture allows couples to add their own love locks to it so they can have a treasured memory of Beaulieu. Whilst at Beaulieu, learn more about the fascinating Victorian ways of life at Palace House, the monastic history of the Abbey and of course, the ever-popular National Motor Museum.
Another popular activity in Beaulieu is to take the two mile walk to Buckler’s Hard. Here you can learn about the maritime history of this small hamlet and at certain times of the year take a river cruise on the Beaulieu River.
On a sunny day why not make your own picnic to take out on a walk? Pick up some amazing local produce from one our farm shops or markets and rustle up a treat.
If you don’t fancy doing your own cooking, (and let’s face it, we don’t blame you, you’re on your honeymoon!) then you will find plenty of places to eat out including award-winning restaurants, cosy countryside pubs and cafes with views to die for! Another culinary favourite here in the New Forest is to indulge in an afternoon tea. There are plenty of tea rooms that you can stop by at or head to one of our hotels that feature afternoon tea with a spot of fizz - whether you prefer Prosecco or Champagne, this is a fantastic way to while away time together in the New Forest!
So, whether you are looking for a minimoon or a longer honeymoon together, there are plenty of things for you to do here, whether you fancy an adrenalin-packed time or a secluded escape together.
Plus, who needs the hassle of airports and going abroad when there is so much to offer here already?
